What is the Irish Business Forum of Hong Kong?
The IBF is a voluntary association of business people in Hong
Kong who have an interest in Ireland and Irish business. It is primarily
a networking group which provides its members with an opportunity
to meet with and listen to interesting speakers from the Irish business
community, including visiting Government and business leaders from
Ireland. Members also have the chance to help further Irish business
interests in Hong Kong.
What is the legal status of the IBF in Hong Kong?
The IBF is registered as a Society under the Societies Ordinance
of Hong Kong.
Who can Join?
Business people who are by origin or descent Irish or who have
an association with, or affinity for, Ireland.
How long does it take to join?
Election as a member of the IBF is subject to nomination by
two existing members and approval of the Committee. You will be
notified by mail or email of your acceptance. The process will take
no more than one month. If you do not know an IBF member, please
contact the President of the IBF, Mr Mervyn Jacob (852 2289 2700)
or the Membership Secretary, Mr Daniel O'Riordan (852 2273 5742).
Types of Membership
There are four categories of membership, Ordinary Member, Corporate
Member, Life Member and Overseas Member. The cost of each category
is set out in the Membership Application Form. The corporate membership
status is available to companies operating in Hong Kong and is transferable.
Term of Membership
Ordinary, Corporate and Overseas memberships are valid for the
calendar year and annual subscriptions are payable on or before
31 January in each calendar year. Members joining after January
will pay the full annual dues upon application but will receive
credit for the portion unused in the next annual membership subscription.
